Out of the 32 NFL teams, here are the ones who played backup quarterbacks this year because of injury:
- Baltimore
- Green Bay
- Houston
- Chicago
- Indianapolis
- Cleveland
- New York Jets
- Arizona
- Miami
- Tampa Bay
- Buffalo
- San Fransisco
- Denver
That’s 13 teams.
Green Bay probably missed out on a win over Pittsburgh due to an Aaron Rodgers injury against Minnesota. However, the Packers are still in the playoff hunt after a win against Tampa Bay. With a tough schedule left, Rodgers could help them win a game or two if he comes back.
Deshaun Watson’s injury cost Houston a playoff spot. He is tied for 8th most passing TDs in the NFL. And he only played 7 games. Next year, the former Clemson star will get a taste of his college glory.
The Colts could be good. If they had Andrew Luck. Jacoby Brissett is okay, but this team has lost a bunch of close ones. If only they had Luck.
No quarterback can play without his receivers. I can’t say enough about Antonio Brown. His energy, his old-fashioned cars, his touchdown dance, and his amazing catches(and occasional reaches) make him a fan favorite. If he misses the game against Cincinnati, that could put Pittsburgh in some jeopardy.
Injuries can change a season in seconds. And this season is no different. There has also been a push from the players to eliminate Thursday Night Football because of injuries to key players like Richard Sherman. Either way, we’re in for a great finish.
The Giants also had a key injury this year: Ben McAdoo suffered from a mysterious brain disease that prevented him from doing anything right!
The healthiest teams usually come out near the top. It’s a tough sport to last a full season without an injury.
